The biggest video game company in the world is actually one you might not have ever heard of. Tencent is a massive Chinese company that has a stake in some of the most popular video games today. While Tencent doesn’t just focus on video games, they have money in many popular games, including Fortnite, League of Legends, Call of Duty, and other franchises that have found incredible success. Tencent also owns entire studios like Riot Games, who are behind League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics. Tencent also owns a part of Fortnite developer Epic Games.
Sony Interactive Entertainment
The next major video game company on this list is Sony Interactive Entertainment, which was originally Sony Computer Entertainment. SIE is responsible for putting out PlayStation video game consoles in addition to various exclusives for them. The PlayStation exclusive games are all under various studios that they own, like Last of Us developer Naughty Dog and the recently acquired Insomniac Games—the latest Sony video game studio is behind games such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and Sunset Overdrive.
Xbox Game Studios
The Microsoft Game Studios was launched back in 2000 and has since been renamed Xbox Game Studios. Just as SIE is behind various consoles and games for PlayStation, Xbox Game Studios does the same for Xbox systems. Halo is by far the biggest series to come from Xbox Game Studios; this series was developed by Bungie Studios before they became independent. Some other games that come from within Xbox Game Studios include Minecraft and Gears of War.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is part of the studios’ Home Entertainment division and was founded 16 years ago. These studios from WB Games have developed the Batman: Arkham series, Mortal Kombat, the Middle-earth series, Lego games, and Injustice to name a few.
