Why People Are Turning to Games in Self-Isolation

Countries all around the world are being forced to remain at home until the novel coronavirus outbreak slows down. As we head into self-quarantine for what may be a few months to remain safe and avoid spreading it to others, many people are now trying to figure out what to do with all this new free time. The good news is we are living in the digital age, so there’s no shortage of easily available entertainment. Learn why people are turning to games in self-isolation.

If you currently don’t have a video game console or PC, now might be the time to get one. A new Xbox and PlayStation might be on the way, but even the launch dates for the next-generation consoles might be delayed.

A Safe Way to Socialize

One of the major reasons why people are turning to games in self-isolation is because it gives people a chance to socialize. Since  the CDC recommends that we are at least six feet apart from one another to avoid contracting COVID-19, gaming online is a safe option to interact with others.

Time to Catch Up on Games You Missed

Self-quarantine also gives you a chance to play games you’ve been meaning to play, new and old. The game industry is still putting out highly anticipated titles like Animal CrossingDoom Eternal, and Call of Duty: Warzone.

Improve Your Gaming Set-Up

Now is also a good time to improve your gaming set-up. In addition to getting a new console, think about adding another monitor or completely overhauling your PC set-up. Since you may be spending a lot of time in front of a screen during your stint in self-quarantine, make sure you protect yourself. Avoid the dangers from blue light, like digital eye strain, by getting a pair of video game glasses from Glassy Eyewear.
