Most Anticipated Video Games of 2021
January 15, 2021The end of 2020 saw the release of some incredible new gaming hardware, both for consoles and PCs. Hardware doesn’t mean much unless you’ve got software to play on it, though. Luckily, 2021 is shaping up to be a great looking year in terms of video game releases. Some of the most anticipated video games of 2021 are just around the corner. We’ve compiled this list so you know what to look forward to in the coming months.
Monster Hunter: Rise
Capcom is only releasing the newest installment in the Monster Hunter series on the Nintendo Switch, but it’s already shaping up to be another fantastic game in the franchise. The prospect of playing a full Monster Hunter game on the go is too good to pass up. With a release date of March 26th, it won’t be long before we’re out hunting giant monsters again.
Halo: Infinite
After a few delays, Xbox Series X owners are still as excited as ever to get their hands on Halo: Infinite. The Halo series hasn’t had a full game release in quite some time, and the Microsoft side of the gaming industry is ready for the return of Master Chief. With a tentative release schedule of fall 2021, it’ll be a little while longer before the fight can begin again.
Horizon: Forbidden West
On the other side of the industry we have a Sony exclusive, Horizon: Forbidden West. The sequel to 2017’s PS4 exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn, Forbidden West will only be releasing on Sony’s consoles. Protagonist Aloy returns to explore more of the first game’s the overgrown wilds as she ventures west, going deeper into the game’s beautiful post post-apocalypse world. “Late 2021” is all we know about the release schedule currently.
Hollow Knight: Silksong
The original Hollow Knight was a massive success and quickly grew to a place of honor among the greatest indie titles of all time. Now we have its sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong to look forward to in 2021. Fans can look forward to more fast-paced, bug-killing action soon enough as the release date is set sometime this year.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2
By far one of the most anticipated games of 2021 is the sequel to the insanely popular Breath of the Wild coming to the Switch sometime this year. Presumably, it will have the same secret-finding, sword-swinging action of the first game. Zelda games rarely ever let us down, so we’re definitely pumped about this release!
Resident Evil Village
The eighth main installment of the Resident Evil franchise doesn’t seem to be holding anything back when it comes to the violence and horror it’s known for. There aren’t many details available—probably on purpose—but we’re still excited to see where the series goes after the success of its previous game.
